Elvina was the second of four daughters born to Elisha William Wallis and his wife Sarah Louisa Stephens. She was a school teacher and taught in Chambers County, Texas, communities, including Cove, before marrying her first husband and moving to Galveston in the 1870s. Not much is known of her life between her first and second marriages. She married her second husband in 1880 in Ellis County, Texas. She remained in Ellis County, living near the community of Italy, until her death in 1921.
