Obituary - TOPEKA CAPITAL JOURNAL, Fri. January14, 2000 Elvin Carlson Elvin M. Carlson, 85, Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at a Versailles, Mo. nursing home. Mr. Carlson was an office manager for a Buick dealership in Topeka for 25 years. He later retired as office manager of the Butter Krust Bakery in Topeka. Mr. Carlson was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was born June 29, 1914, in Caulderhead, the son of Carl A. and Laura Hendrickson Carlson. Mr. Carlson was a member of West Side Baptist Church in Topeka. He married Majorie D. Lockenour on April 9, 1939, in Topeka. She died April 9, 1999. Survivors include two sons, David K. Carlson, Gravois Mills, Mo., and Terry L. Carlson, Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister Lorraine Lais, Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at West Side Baptist Church. Burial with military honors conducted by a Fort Riley military detail will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Carlson will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Baptist Church, 1008 S. W. 4th Topeka, 66606. Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
