Elton H. Coon, 87, of Salem died Friday. He was born in Elyria, Neb. He came to Salem in 1914. He retired in 1960 as an automobile mechanic for Valley Motor in Salem. He was a member of the Machinist Union. Survivors include his wife, Grace; daughter Phyllis Muller of Seattle; son Donald R. of Salem; and brother John B. of Woodburn. Visiting will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Rigdon-Ransom mortuary, Salem. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the mortuary. Interment will follow in Belcrest Memorial Park, Salem. Contributions may be made to Rosedale Friends Church or First Christian Church, both in Salem.
