1860 Census (1686): Crown Point, ESSEX, NY, 10, NY. 1870 Census (1694): Crown Point, ESSEX, NY, 20, NY as Eleory. 1880 Census (1691): Crown Point, ESSEX, NY, 29, farmer, NY. 1915 Ticonderoga Sentinel 18 Nov 1815, vol 42, no. 47: Ellery Hitt, at various times a resident of Crown Point, Ticonderoga and Moriah and well known in Essex county, died yesterday morning from Bright's disease at the home of his son Charles in Ironville. Upwards of a quarter of a century ago he was for a time proprietor of the old Sherman House in Moriah village. The funeral will be held from his late home at one o'clock tomorrow, Friday afternoon.
