- On the surface, Elizabeth's birth of 1 Feb 1654/55 appears to conflict with brother Samuel who was b. 15 Apr 1655. Source:Vital records of Roxbury, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849, p. 1:378 do indeed show Elizabeth born on Feb. 1, 1654 and cites church records saying 1654/55. However, page 2:669, it gives death as Mar. 10, 1653 (i.e., 1653/54), which could resolve the conflict by suggesting the birth was recorded with the wrong year. But, keeping this confused, on a separate line, it records the burial of Elizabeth on 1654/55 according to church records. Clearly, she would not have been buried a year later. So now placing her birth in death in 1653 would require assuming two mistakes. Remembering that the marriage of the parents is recorded on 2 Mar 1653 (1653/54, presumably), the 1653 dates seem unlikely. It is probable that Samuel's birth is the one that incorrectly recorded.
