ELIZABETH, sole daughter and heiress, ward of king Henry the Sixth, who assigned her wardship to Thomas Lord Stanley, a'o 24 Hen. 6, aged 36 (sic)[b] in 1485, Inq. p.m. 4 Hen. 8.

Thomas de Weever married Elizabeth, daughter of ...... By her he had issue Elizabeth, daughter and heiress, wife of sir John Stanley, a younger son of Thomas the first lord Stanley, to whom king Henry VI. a^o 24, gave the disposal of her in marriage as his ward; she remarried sir John Done of Utkinton.

Elizabeth Weever had survived both her husbands, 13 Hen. VII. as appears by a deed of that date, Harl. MSS. 2077. 43. b. whereby it is convenanted "between dame Elizabeth Done, late wife of sir John Done, kt. and John Hawerden of Grayes Inne, that Jane, daughter of the said Elizabeth, and of John Stanley, her late husband, brother to the earl of Darbie, should marrie the said John Hawarden."

Inq. p. m. 4 Hen. VIII. The lady Elizabeth, late wife of sir John Done, knt. held the manor of Weever from the king as earl of Chester in capite by Grand Serjeancy, val. [£ 11, not] xiil.; also lands in Rushton, Newton, [jux. Medio Wico,] Clyve [jux. Wev',] Middlewich, Manley, Barretspoole, [the manor of Over,] Alderley, [and lands in Nether- not]Over- Alderley, Bredbury, and Upton [jux. Macclesfild; also Wodeley juxta Stokport, Romeley, Occlestn, Stanthorn, Wan'ton, and Wymbaldesley.]. Obiit die Jovis, prima Sep'a in quadragesima a^o p'd'o: quis filius et haeres juratores ignorant.

[The Latin states that Elizabeth died on Thursday in the first week of Lent in the "aforesaid" year. Since Henry VIII's reign began on April 21, and the IPM was taken in September, presumably the previous regnal year is intended.]

"...and leaving an only daughter Elizabeth, then the wife of Sir John Done, Knt., and 36 years of age and upwards." [in 1485]
"This Elizabeth was the only daughter and heiress of her mother's first husband, Thomas Weever, and in the 24th Henry VI. [1446], the King in consideration of the good services done to him by Sir Thomas Stanley, Controller of his household, granted to him the wardship and marriage of this Elizabeth, and Sir Thomas Stanley married her to his third son, John Stanley."
Earwaker's note: "As Elizabeth Weever, the daughter, was living in 1446, she must have been more than 36 in 1485."
"[John Stanley's] widow married, for her second husband, Sir John Done, of Utkinton, co. Chester, Knt., and dying in 1512, her Inquisition post mortem was taken in September of that year. It refers to the manor of Weever, messuages and lands in Weever, Woodley near Stockport, Romeley, Middlewich, Upton near Macclesfield, &c., the manor of Over Alderley, and messuages and lands in Over Alderley, Nether Alderley, and Bradbury, and the settlements of these lands which she had made. Thomas Stanley, her son, and Douce, his wife, are mentioned, as also are George Stanley, his brother, Richard Done, her son, and William Done, his brother, and her several daughters..."
Earwaker's note:"[The daughters] are described as follows; in default of issue of Thomas Stanley, George Stanley, Richard Done, and William Done, then to Cecily, wife of Thomas Venables, Esq., Margery, wife of William Torbok, Knt., Anne, wife of Ralph Ravenscroft, Esq., Joan, wife of Thomas Hawarden and Cecily, wife of Hugh Davenport. It does not state whether these daughters were her issue by John Stanley, or Sir John Done, but it seems probable that the first four were Stanleys and the fifth a Done, as it is not likely there would be two daughters named Cecily in the same family." <i> </div>
