Elizabeth's maiden name and origins have yet to be established. Her first sighting is in 1754, by which time she was already married to Josias Marshall, when their daughter Elizabeth was baptised at Harpenden in Hertfordshire.

Elizabeth seems to have died shortly after giving birth to her next child, a boy called Joseph. She was buried at Luton on 16th June 1757, the day before Joseph was baptised. He died shortly afterwards, being buried just five days after his mother. The Luton register record that the family lived at Ashwell Bridge, which is at East Hyde to the south of Luton.
