Lizzie Pattison was devoted member of Reformed Presbyterian church and a member of WCTU and President of the Women’s Missionary Society. She appears on 1908 New Castle Directory.

REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN. The Reformed Presbyterian Church of New Castle was organized in February, 1871, with forty-one members. The three original elders were David C. Pattison, Robert Speer and David Pattison. The first deacon was David McClelland. Among the prominent members were Alexander Stewart, Wm. S. Pattison, John Davis, John Mayne, William Boyd, John Elliott, R. D. Pattison, Mrs. E. J. Pattison, Mrs. Nellie Speer, Mrs. M. Kerr, Mrs. Nancy Davis, Mrs. Jane Pattison, Mrs. Maggie Pattison, Mrs. Matilda Davis, Mrs. Jane Stevenson, Mrs. Mary McClelland, Miss Maggie Love, Mrs. Mary R. Speer. The first pastor, Rev. S. J. Crowe, was called on the 18th of September, 1871, and ordained and installed on the 22d of May, 1872, and has continued to the present time to discharge the responsible duties of his position to the satisfaction and edification of his charge.

Pretty Luncheon at Pattison Home

To honor Mrs. JS Martin formerly of this city and Mrs Dodds of Beaver Falls, Mrs. DC Pattison of the Youngstown Road gave a nicely appointed luncheon Wednesday at noon. The affair was a complete surprise to the honor guests but proved all the more enjoyable. The afternoon was spent in visiting and other pleasantries.

80th Birthday

Mrs. EJ Pattison of the Youngstown Road, was 80 years old on Wednesday, 7 Aug, and in honor of the occasion the Scotland Lane prayer meeting of which she is a charter member surprised her on yesterday evening. Prayer meeting was held on the lawn and after the services she was presented with a leather hand bag. Mr. James Jamison made the presentation speech. the hours were spent socially and ice cream and cake were served later. The following, numbering 48, were present:

Informal Party Honors Birthday To celebrate the 83rd birthday of Mrs. EJ Pattison, friends and neighbors to the number of 83 gathered at her home on the Youngstown Road last evening in a surprise fashion. The hours were spent informally and during the evening the honored guest was presented with a black silk dress. (there is an ad on same page for silk dresses at $10 each). The presentation speech was made by James Jamison. the oldest person present was William Pattison aged 87Y and the youngest was Hathaway Pattison aged 3 months. Later in the evening delicious refreshments were served and a color scheme of pink and white was carried out in the decorations and the menu. Among the out of town guests were Misses Winters, Mrs. Feree and daughter of Jeanette, PA, Miss Mary Love of Mercer, Mrs. Russell Pattison and son Billy of Salem, Ohio, and Mr and Mrs. John Krieger and son John of Pittsburgh.

Mrs EJ Pattison Following an illness of 3 days Mrs EJ Pattison passed away in her home on the Youngstown Road this morning at 1:16. Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Love Pattison was born in Rose Point, Slippery Rock Twp, Lawrence Co, PA on 7 Aug 1833 and was in her 90 earth year. She was the daughter of Charles and Nancy Rodgers Love who were among the early settlers of that community. When she was 12 years old she united with the Reformed Presbyterian Church at Rose Point then under the pastorate of Rev James Blackwood.

She was united in marriage to David C. Pattison, 2 Dec 1858 and came to her newly erected home one mile west of New Castle on the Youngstown Road where she has resided over a period of 74 years. “Aunt Lizzie” as she was heavenly known by a host of friends as well as relatives was a woman of sterling worth and her death will be mourned by many. She had always taken an active part in all civic problems and was a devoted member of the WCTU having been president of the Scotland Union for many years. She was also president of the Women’s Missionary Society of the REformed Presbyterian Church over a long period. She was preceded in death 28 Sept 1905 by her husband.

She is survived by one son Charles A. Pattison of the Youngstown Road, a grandson Roy E Pattison, Philadelphia, 2 granddaughters Mary M Pattison and Mrs. Floyd V Lortz of this city, 1 great grandson William Charles Lortz and a brother Charles Love, Spearlish, SD. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 Mar at 2 PM from the home of her son Charles A. Pattison, Youngstown Road with Dr. EA Crooks officiating. Interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.

Funeral of Mrs. EJ Pattison

Funeral services for Mrs. EJ Pattison, Youngstown Road, were held Wednesday afternoon from the home of her son, Charles A. Pattison, with the house overflowing with those wishing to pay their last respects to Aunt Lizzie whom they held so dear during her lifetime. Dr. EA Crooks pastor of the REformed Presbyterian Church officiated at the service assisted by Rev JS MArtin, Beaver Falls and Rev James S stewart and Dr. SE Irvine of this city. David Rees sang the 23rd Psalm.

Pallbearers were EB Kennedy, S. Wilson, JD Pattison, AC Gardner, Kenneth Gaston, and Clyde Tindall. Interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery.
