It is here that the Timbrook family makes a division that separates the family and their descendents. In March of 1821 after the death or disappearance of her husband John, Elizabeth age 51-52, along with her son-in-law Thomas B. Watkins, his wife Judith [Timbrook] with two or three of their small children, Elizabeth's son James, age 18, and daughter Rebecca age about 15, leave Hampshire County, Virginia and move to Ohio. Elizabeth's two oldest son's William and John remain in Romney, Hampshire County with their young families. William will later end up in Indiana. John's line of descendents will matriculate to Missouri.

When Elizabeth and her family left Virginia they would have taken the old road to Cumberland, Maryland where they would join others on the National Road, sometimes referred to as the Cumberland Road. In March 1821in Brownsville, PA they purchased a flat boat, and proceeded to Portsmouth. They landed in Portsmouth, Ohio in April 1821. The people of Portsmouth induce them to stay due to the high winds, and they settled there. SOURCE: Information from Sue O'Bryan and Glenn E. Smith.

She was a witness to a will of Lucrecy Smoot who died April 10, 1815 and was probated June 19, 1815. Sam Calvin was appointed executor and "gets all". Besides Elisabeth, Luther and John Calvin are witness. She also shows up as a member of the Crook Run Baptist Church along with Lucrecy Smoot. The IGI and Don Davies say her name is Lane. Her children are listed as they were in the John Timbrook Bible. In the 1850 Census Elizabeth is shown living with her son James Lewis Timbrook, and her age is listed as 83.[William Lane descendants.ged]
