  2. No such death record (6 Feb 1694) is found though on 6 Feb 1695/96 (i.e., not 1694) a Thomas Putnam was assigned as guardian of Daniel (13), Jonathan (10), Thomas (17) and Joseph (15) Kenny (Essex Probate 15337). Note that assignment of a guardian does not necessary imply that the mother died. Comparison to the Salem VRs (Vol. 1, p. 485) shows these are the children of Thomas Kenne and Elizabeth Knight. It seems to be a common assertion that this Elizabeth Knight is the Elizabeth Knight of Woburn, though direct evidence has not been located. Torry does not identify her, and some websites say she is "of Topsfield", so it is not obvious this is correct. Source:Robertson, Florance Alice Loveless Keeney. Genealogy of Henry and Ann Kinne : Pioneers of Salem, Massachusetts, p. 2-3, discusses this, and although concluding the identification is likely correcte (based on names of descendants), gives the caveat "no definite proof of her parentage ... [records] show many Elizabeth Knights of this period". One alternate not completely ruled out is the Elizabeth, d/o Philip Knight Sr. and wife Margery, b. 1655.
