12 Jun 1756: To the Select men of the Town of Weston - Greeting. Whereas Elizabeth Allen the Widow of Mr Abel Allen late of said Town Deceased has been represented to me to be a Person - non compos mentis - You are hereby directed to make Inquisition into the truth of such Representation and to signifye in writing under your hands whether in your judgment the said Elizabeth is a Person so far non compos mentis by reason of her advance age, & the Decay of the Powers of her mind, as not to be capable to taking the proper Care of her Self & her Estate & to stand in need of a Guardian.
