12 Jun 1756: To the Select men of the Town of Weston - Greeting. Whereas Elizabeth Allen the Widow of Mr Abel Allen late of said Town Deceased has been represented to me to be a Person - non compos mentis - You are hereby directed to make Inquisition into the truth of such Representation and to signifye in writing under your hands whether in your judgment the said Elizabeth is a Person so far non compos mentis by reason of her advance age, & the Decay of the Powers of her mind, as not to be capable to taking the proper Care of her Self & her Estate & to stand in need of a Guardian. S. Danforth J. probate

Weston Aug't 2 1756. To ye Hon'd S Danforth Judge of probate &c - We The Subscribers Selectmen of Said Town having made Inquiry into ye Condition of ye Within Nam'd Elisabeth Allen and find by her advanced age & ye Decay of her Mentall powers That She is not Capable of Taking Care of her Estate and are of Oppinion That it will be best for her to have a Guardian. Weston Feb'y 28. 1757. S'r - We the Subscribers Selectmen of Weston having Some Time Since Signified to your Hon'r that it was necessary in our Oppinion, that Elizabeth Allen Shou'd have Guardian - We now Signify to y'r Hon'r that we Esteem Nath.
