Andrew Guffin was born about 1778 in Virginia (probably Berkeley County). He moved with parents & siblings to SC. Married Elizabeth S. Brownfield about 1808, probably in Abbeville, SC. Was a planter, a Presbyterian Elder and a founder of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Newton County, GA in 1842. First moved to Jasper County, GA about 1810 and is believed to be buried in an unmarked grave in the Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Died about 1853 in Newton County, GA.
