Problem 1
Elizabeth Laurie Bennett has a sister, Elizabeth Bennett, born 1829. It is unusual for two living sisters to have the same name, however the name Elizabeth has a great number of variations and one might have gone by one and the other by another.

The younger Elizabeth is at home for the census of 1841, Elizabeth Laurie is not. She may have been in domestic service, but she is not in Rerrick parish.

It is possible that the two sisters are one and the same, but this researcher has not investigated the Old Parish Registers or later censuses for possible further information.

Problem 2
Elizabeth Laurie Bennett's married surname is very unusual. It is possible it is a mis-transcription of McWhir which is known in the Kirkcudbrightshire area. Once again, only an inspection of the original film of the Old Parish Register would give an answer.
