[1672] "Sh: 6. 18. [Elisabeth] the daughter of Henry, & Elisabeth [Balcom."
[The sixth month was August in 1672, so this date is 18 Aug 1672. "Sh" stands for Thomas Shepard, 1658-1677.]

Quoting an article in the Boston Post Boy, dated 2 Jan 1769: "The Wife of the above-mentioned Gershom, who died about 12 or 14 Years ago, was about 80." This places her death about 1756, 1754, or 1752 depending on which number you prefer. They lived in Worcester from 1715 on.

  3.   Source:Chute, William Edward. Genealogy and History of the Chute Family in America says of Gershom Rice on p. clxviii, that he "m. Elizabeth, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Balcom) Haynes (who were m. at Charlestown, Aug. 12, 1646)". The marriage in the Charlestown records is "Henry Balcome & Elizabeth Haynes, m. by Lt. Edm. Goodonow, Aug. 12, 1666.", so this information is doubly flawed, getting the names interchanged, and miscopying the date.
