Elijah was a private in Captain Ball's Fauquier County militia, under the command of Colonel Elias Edmon or Edmonds.

Elijah Anderson was in the Culpeper County tax roles from 1788 to 1829. In the 1800 list, his sons Joseph & John are listed as well as his son-in-law Thomas Anderson (who marries Sarah). In 1801 another son is shown: Cornelius.

Elijah is on the 1810 census. He is located between his sons John and Cornelius.

In the 1820 census, his son Joseph has moved to Flemming County, Kentucky where he appears on the census. Several family members had previously moved to Garrard County, Kentucky. In 1819 Cornelius and Elizabeth sold their property in Culpeper, as did their son Ezekial and his wife Margaret, and moved to Kentucky, eventually settling in Bath County.

In the 1820 Culpeper County Census, Elijah's son John is still near him and another son Payton is also now in the census near his father. This family moved between the counties of Fauqier and the part that became Rappahannock County, as well as Hampshire County West Virginia. and Loudoun County as well. At about the same time, 1820, we find some of Elijah's children in Muskingum County, Ohio.

His tombstone was replaced after 1999 by family. That's why I judge the quality of this source to be secondary. His is the only marked grave in the middle of a pasture in Amissville, VA.
