"Elias Wilder, from Dummerston, was one of the early settlers in West Jamaica, having located upon the farm now occupied by his grandson, George F., about 1785. Only one of his sons, Ephraim, spent his life in Jamaica."
[Note: Source:Davis, Donald R. Wilder Connection says Elias and Abigail (Rice) Wilder had five children: Elias, Samuel, Joshua, Aasron and Charles [no Ephraim specified], suggesting the above is a different one of the "three persons listed by the name of Elias Wilder in the Vermont census report for 1800".]

[Note: Source:Hemenway, Abby Maria. Vermont Historical Gazetteer, p. 5:167, published 1891, says of Elias Wilder: "The youngest of his ten children, Abigail, b. 1796, married Solomon Lawton, brother of Asa Lawton, now 87 years old and the only person living in town who remembered Elias Wilder, who died Jan. 14, 1808, aged 56." The age 56 would suggest this death date applies to a different Elias Wilder.]
