Elias Nelson Bates

Elias Nelson Confederate Records Elias Nelson Bates was born in 1842 in Murray County, Georgia. He is the 6th child of nine. He is the son of Elias Ezekiel Bates and Margaret Roberts Bates. He enlisted on January 3, 1862 to Company B, 10th Georgia State Troops. He mustered out on May 15, 1862 to re-enlist to Company A, 34th Georgia Infantry. He died in a hospital in Dalton Georgia from an illness on September 20, 1862. On the last record in Dalton it has Private Company A 59th Regiment Georgia C.S.A Post Hospital. He is buried in the Confederate Graveyard located at Westhill Cemetery in Dalton Georgia. His name appears on the the monument just inside the gates of the cemetery. I don't know if Elias had seen any battles or was involved with any since he was only enlisted in service for 9 months.
