- A DNA test performed in 2016 indicates that this line of Rices is descended from the John Rice of Rhode Island b. 1645.
- ↑ There is some question as to whether Eli was old or younger than James.
Find A Grave (which shows the grave marker) indicates Eli was born 1809. The 1850 census shows Eli to be 38yo, which would put his birth year 1811-12. The 1870 & 1880 census agree with the 1850 census with 58yo and 68yo respectively, or again 1811-12, therefore, unless a birth or death record which shows a more exact age surfaces, Eli will be considered the youngest son born about 1811. This also coincides with the 1810 & 1820 census records for his father, John, which shows 2 sons in 1810 and 3 sons in 1820.
