  8.   A DNA test performed in 2016 indicates that this line of Rices is descended from the John Rice of Rhode Island b. 1645.
  9. There is some question as to whether Eli was old or younger than James.

Find A Grave (which shows the grave marker) indicates Eli was born 1809. The 1850 census shows Eli to be 38yo, which would put his birth year 1811-12. The 1870 & 1880 census agree with the 1850 census with 58yo and 68yo respectively, or again 1811-12, therefore, unless a birth or death record which shows a more exact age surfaces, Eli will be considered the youngest son born about 1811. This also coincides with the 1810 & 1820 census records for his father, John, which shows 2 sons in 1810 and 3 sons in 1820.
