Eli Brook married Lydia Woodcock in 1842 and Selina Quarmby in 1846. No death record for Lydia has been found. Instead, in 1871 she is living with him as his wife in Wooldale (S6), while he is also recorded as living with Selina in Wyke (S5). In 1881, Lydia has disappeared, but Eli is still living in Wooldale with a married daughter (S8) and also in Wyke with Selina (S7). In 1891 there are 3 records: one with son John, one with sons Joseph and Benjamin, and one for Selina who is recorded despite the fact that she died in January of that year.

It would appear that Eli and Selina did not get on, but divorce was not possible for a cotton spinner who was forced to move about to find employment.

Baptisms for the children are yet to be inspected.
