    Edward (Eetse) Kooistra, age 80, of Lynden, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005. He was born Mar. 17, 1925 in Friesland, Holland to Sape and Jeltje (Vander Veen) Kooistra and was the youngest of thirteen children. After serving in the Dutch Army overseas in Indonesia, he immigrated, in 1950, to Canada. In 1957, he moved to California where he met his wife, Anneke, and they were married in Bellflower, CA in 1960. Later, they moved to Washington State where they dairy farmed until 1978 and then retired in Lynden.
    Visitation hours will be Monday, October 17 from 1 to 8 PM at Gillies Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1:15 PM at Monumenta Cemetery with Memorial services following at 2:00 PM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Liberty St., Lynden with Pastor John Van Schepen officiating.
    Preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters, he is survived by his wife, Anneke; two sons, Sidney (Jackie) Kooistra of Colorado Springs, CO, Edward, Jr. (Annette) Kooistra of Sumas; one daughter, Annette of the family home; five grandchildren; two sisters and one brother in Holland and one sister in Ontario, Canada. -
