    Edward Hawse, deceased June 28.
[Note: the sequence of dates following the header for 1686 appear to cycle through the months, though not strictly in order, and then to begin again, so this date appears to be 1687 even though there is no header marking the beginning of 1687. The next set of dates begins with 1688. While it is not known why probate wasn't opened until 1689, clearly the date of the will rules out a death in 1686, while a death in Jun 1687 does not strictly contradict the date of the will.]

Case 1700: Edward Hawes 1689 Dedham.

Will of "Edward Hawse of Dedham", dated 4 Jun 1687, proved 17 Dec 1689, names wife Eleoney Hawse; youngest son Joseph Hawke; eldest son Daniel Hawes liveing in Wrentham; son John Hawse; son Nathanell Hawse; daughters Lydia Gay, Hannah Mason, Abigaill Vales & Deborah Pond. Wife Elioney Hawse and son Joseph Hawes to be executors.
Undated, sworn to 17 Dec 1689: Inventory of Edward Hawse Deceased in Dedham: £98=08=00; debts £106=10=00, by Richard Ellin, Tho: Battelle.

  3. Obviously the date of his death is somewhat confused. For example, Source:Preston, Mary Isabella. Bassett-Preston Ancestors, p. 137, says "He died, June 28, 1686, at Wrentham. His will was probated in 1687." The date of death given is before the date his will was written, hence impossible. The death record is found in Dedham, no such record is found in Wrentham. The will was probated in 1689, not 1687.
