Facts and Events
"Edmund(A) Weld, born say 1560: His parentage at present is unknown but he was doubtless descended from William Weld of Eaton, co. Chester, sheriff of London in 1352, whose coat of arms is identical with that used by the early New England Weld Family (Arms: Azure, a fesse nebule between three Crescents Ermine). Edmund married 12 April 1585, at St. Peter’s in Sudbury, Suffolk, Amye or Ame Brewster. By occupation a prosperous merchant, he owned land in Sudbury and Great Cornard Suffolk; North Lopham, Norfolk, and Balington, Essex. His will, dated 5 Dec. 1605, probated 3 may 1608, mentions his wife, Amye, to whom he bequeathed “my mansion house wherein I now inhabit and dwell, in the parish of St. Peter in Sudbury”; seven sons, Daniel, John, Edmund, Thomas, Benjamin, Joseph and James; and two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. Wife Amye named sole executrix with brother John Dereslye to be supervisor (Waters 2:1076). The exact relationship between Edmund Weld and John Dereslye is not known but Dereslye evidently was not Weld’s wife’s brother as previously thought."[1] References
