DUBLIN, Va. Edith Cavell Brown Dellinger, age 97, stepped into the embrace of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at her home. She was born in Clinchco, Virginia; daughter of the late Thomas and Frankie Pickering Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, Warren C. "Buck" Dellinger. Edith was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Their marriage reflected sacrifice for family, dedication to hard work, and a firm faith in Christ Jesus. Edith and Buck were actively involved in the Castlewood Presbyterian Church from 1961 until 1971, when they moved to Kingsport, Tennessee, to be near their daughter, Edith and their grandchildren. In 1993, she moved to Dublin, Virginia, where she was a member of Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pulaski. Throughout her life, Edith was a devoted student and lover of God's Word through personal study, church, Bible Study Fellowship International, and Community Bible Study. She also relied on and experienced the power of prayer throughout her life. Edith is survived by her daughters, Edith Cavell Gibson and husband, Charles, of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Rebecca Hancock and husband, Lawrence, of Dublin, Virginia; one grandson, Greg Gibson and wife, Donna, of Kingsport, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Nancy Smith and husband Warren, of Spring Hill, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren, Courtney and Carter Gibson, Emily, Sarah, and Lydia Smith; three beloved sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Edith Cavell Brown Dellinger will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia. Interment will follow in the Miner's Memorial section of Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia.
