EBENEZER MILROY, farmer; P. O., Northwood; was born July 9, 1822, in Livingston Co., N. Y.; his father, James Milroy, was born in Scotland,and bred to the occupation of farming; he was married to Mary McJerrow,and about the year 1819 emigrated to this country with his family, whichthen consisted of five members, and settled in the above named county.The country was quite new, and they endured many privations, which mereincident to early settlers in that country. Ebenezer remained under theparental roof until the fall of 1847, when he started West for thepurpose of securing himself a home; he traveled by water to Milwaukee,and after rambling through parts of Wisconsin and Illinois, he returnedto this township, intending to spend the winter with a brother who hadcome here several years previously; receiving intelligence of hisfather's sickness, and desiring to reach home as soon as possible, hebought a horse and made the trip on horseback, but did not arrive untilafter his father's burial; Sept. 28, 1848, he was married to Mary A.,daughter of David and Mary A. (Ross) Morrow; she was born in Wyoming Co.,N. Y ., Sept. 20, 1846. After marriage they united with the ReformedPresbyterian Church, and then set out for Wisconsin to establish theirown home: after years of patient labor and industry they accumulated ahandsome property, but wishing to be more convenient to a church andschool, they moved to this township, in June, 1876, and bought a farmconvenient to both. Mrs. Milroy died March 2, 1877, having borne sixchildren, the four eldest dying in 1864, all within six weeks. Thoseliving are Ebenezer and Mary Agnes, named for their parents.
