Survey of knowledge of his origins gives very little. Earliest records are some suits in Middlesex County, one says he is "late of Charlestown", another "late of Medford". The author's opinion is that he is an unrecorded son of Jonathan Foskett (s/o John Foskett of Charlestown) and Mary Holden, named for Mary's brother Ebenezer. Of the parents nothing is known after 1709. Ebenezer probably born before 1712 since taxed in Charlestown in 1733. "It is not too likely that any better proof exists."
