  3. Note: Allred, p. 16, erroneously reports this name as Ebenezer Goodwin Ball. This appears to be a misreading of the family register, seeing a dot on the paper over the second syllable and forcing the rest to align with that. Inspection shows there is not two o's in the first syllable, and recognizing the dot as a stray mark, or rest mark, the word is clearly Gardner. Gardner is also reported on the Find A Grave memorial created by Warwick researcher Ryan Amidon (no picture of the gravestone is present, and the cited transcription is shown as "Eben G.", so this appears to represent his conclusion, as opposed to being evidence).
