    Maxine Vienhage Cheek

    Maxine Cheek passed away Monday, August 25, 2003 in Bolivar, Missouri. Maxine was born to Samuel Henry and Catherine Rose Vienhage of Springfield, Missouri on October 27, 1919, in Springfield. She attended St. Agnes High School, Webster College in St. Louis, and Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield. Maxine married Bueford P. Cheek of Fair Play, Missouri on May 11, 1944. To this union were born six children, Michael Robert, Patrick Joseph, Deborah Ann, Stephen Paul, Catherine Louise and Barbara Ellen. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Vienhage Sr.; her brother, Charles V. Vienhage and his wife, Joan; her sister, Sister Rose Ann Vienhage of the Mary Knoll Order; brother-in-law, Carroll "Casey" Gregory of Marshfield; brother-in-law, John A. Cheek of Bolivar; sister-in-law, Lucile Buxtom of Potosi; and grandson David Morgan Cheek of Kemmerrer, Wyoming. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bueford, of the home; daughters, Deborah Lacey and husband Gary, Catherine Catt and husband Harold, Barbara Dueber and husband Rod; sons Michael, Patrick and wife Mary, and Stephen and wife Karen; 13 grandchildren; and a greatgranddaughter. Other survivors include her sister, Mary Louise Gregory, Marshfield; brothers Samuel Henry Vienhage Jr., Springfield, and Robert P. Vienhage and wife Joan, Springfield; brother-inlaw, Charles William Cheek and wife Barbara of Rocheport; sister-in-law, Evelyn Cheek Wildwood; and a host of nieces and nephews. Maxine's Celebration of Life Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bolivar with Father Pat Wissman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Murray Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be John Cheek, Drew Lacey, Heath, Reid, Corbin and JannCatt. In lieu of flowers, Maxine requested donations be made to either Sacred Heart Church building fund, CMH Hospice or Meals on Wheels in care of Murray Funeral Home, P.O. Box 506, Bolivar, MO, 65613.
