- ↑ "Dorothy Mae Royce, 93, of Tiffin, passed away at St. Francis Home inTiffin Tuesday morning, Dec. 28, 2004. She was born March 21, 1911, onFranklin Street in Tiffin, to Welty and Angie (Pryor) Gouker. She latermarried Vernon Royce. Survivors include a brother, Richard Gouker ofTiffin. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Carland Bob Gouker. Dorothy graduated from Columbian High School in 1929 andfrom Heidelberg College in 1933 with a bachelor of arts degree and fromWestern Reserve in 1936 with a master's degree in nursing. She was thefirst president of the Ohio Council for Home Care. The Dorothy RoyceAward was started in her honor for her many years of public healthnursing. She was director of nursing in Madison, Union and Delawarecounties, Dayton and Montgomery County, and retired from Columbus,Franklin County. She was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ. Afuneral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, atHoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with the Rev. Diane Thomasofficiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Sycamore.Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home."
