There were always strained relations between Dolly and her sisters. Evie told me all the details in 1991, shortly before she passed away. There was a row Christmas Eve 1920 because her fiance, Percy had some shore leave and they were out walking instead of helping and let the muddy dog into a kitchen cleaned by her other sister, Gladys. Dolly walked out and moved in with someone else and had no contact with the rest of her family for 12 years.

I remember her living in a council bungalow in Shrub End, Colchester and then moving to an apartment in Worsnop House, Old Heath, Colchester.
