Dorothy (Avery), b. July 4, 1688, (record says 1687) m. Samuel Angier of Cambridge. … Inscription: "Here lies Buried ye body of Mrs. Dorothy Angier ye wife of Mr. Samuel Angier of Cambridge, who Died at Pembroke September 14th 1759, N.S. Aged 64 years and 2 months."
[There are some issues with the above write-up.

    1. The age at death given above calculates to a birth about Jul 1695. This source, itself, cites a deed dated 4 Apr 1710 executed by Dorothy and sister Sybil selling their share of their father's house to their brother. This indicates she was of age in 1710, hence born before 1692, so something must be wrong. Hanson VRs, which are based on the same tombstone inscription, gives the death year as 1752, which works well enough with the birth to suggest Carter misread the death year.

    2. This source says the birth is 1688, even though as this source admits, "record says 1687". There does not seem to be any explanation for why this source believes 1688 is correct. Possibly they were influenced by by the age at death, though such ages are not usually reliable enough to override a recorded birth. Perhaps, the age at death, combined with Dorothy's sister's birth a mere 11 months earlier in Aug 1686, made it seem likely 1687 was an error, but all this is only assumption...

    3. Source:Howard, Cecil Hampden Cutts. Materials for a Genealogy of the Sparhawk Family in New England, p. 107, agrees with the year 1688, but gives the day of birth as 11 Jul instead of 4 Jul. Again, no explanation is given. Did the 4 look like an 11? Did they see a baptism record (the volume of Early Records of Dedham that give Church Records, p. 40n, says book II was lost long ago, so probably not)? Perhaps because the previous record on the page was 1688 (but the records are not in chronological order, and another 1687 records is recorded 2 lines after)?]

    ANGIER, Dorothy, w. Samuel of Cambridge, [died] Sept. 14, 1752 "N.S.", in Pembrok, a. 64 y. 2 m. GR1
[Birth about Jul 1688. GR1=Fern Hill Cemetery. Note, vis-a-vis the previous citing of this transcription: the explicit addition of "N.S." makes a lot more sense on 14 Sep 1752 - the day immediately after the calendar shift - than in 1759, 7 years later.]
