    Dora Lovett Sharpe

    Dora Lovett Sharpe of Williamsburg, Ky., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at the Williamsburg Nursing Home. She was 94 years old. She was born on Dec. 14, 1914 in the Bon Jellico Mining Camp in Whitley County, Ky.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Sharpe; her parents Melton and Flora Lovett; four brothers, Luther, Earl, Virgil and Raymond Lovett; and two sisters, Hester Freeman and Minnie Chambers.

    She is survived by three children, Cohen Lee Sharpe of Williamsburg, Ky., Virginia Arnett and husband Barry of Sharpe Farm in Rockholds, Ky. and John Sharpe and wife JoAnn of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Brian Arnett and wife Keleigh of Lexington, Ky., Dr. Kelly Arnett and husband Andy Schwartz of Cambridge, Mass., Dr. Heather Arnett of Cleveland, Ohio, Tamara Acuna and husband Jose of West Grove, Penn., Virginia Mae Searles and husband Ben of Phoenix, Ariz. and Jonathan Sharpe of Tempe, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren, Virginia Grace Arnett of Lexington, Ky., Joshua Acuna and Jeremy Acuna of West Grove, Penn. and Emajen Rose Searles of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Reva Lovett of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Mildred Lovett of Knoxville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

    She was a graduate of Cumberland College, a teacher in Whitley County, a bookkeeper for Sharpe Chevrolet, and was later employed by the Kentucky Department of Health and Family Services. She served as a Supervisor of the Whitley County Conservation District for several years. She was a member of the Williamsburg Woman's Club and a long time member of the First Baptist Church, Williamsburg, where she was a member of the Florida Moss Gatliff Sunday School Class for 64 years.

    Visitation will be after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at the Croley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Williamsburg, with Rev. Ed Talley and Judge Eugene Siler Jr. officiating. She will lie in state from Noon until the funeral hour at the church. Interment will be in Sharpe Cemetery, Rockholds, Ky.
