Enlisted as a Private on 29 September 1862 at the age of 25 Enlisted in Company C, 25th Infantry Regiment Maine on 29 September 1862 Mustered out on 10 July 1863 in Portland, ME Enlisted as a Private on 24 March 1865 at the age of 27 Enlisted in Company 27th, Unassigned Infantry Regiment Maine on 24 March 1865 Mustered out on 13 May 1865 in Augusta, ME Living with brother William in Oxford at 1860 census with personal estate valued at $70. Living in Oxford at 1870 census with real estate valued at $350 and personal estate value of $150. Living in Perham, ME at 1880 and at 1890 Veterans Schedule and 1900 Census. Living with son Leroy in Perham at 1910 census. Oxford Maine Democrat April 15, 1891: "D. J. Wardwell and wife, of Perham, visited Caribou, Maine, and on returning home found their home in ashes. They left two young children at home and sometime during the afternoon the youngest child was called into the house, discovered fire falling fron the roof. He called his older brother, who was in the stable, but it was too late to save anything but a little clothing fron one of the beds. Mr. Wardwell lost 75 bushels of marketable potatoes, together with all of his summer supplies and the entire contents of his home. The fire is supposed to have caught by a spark from the stove pipe. No insurance. Mr. Wardwell has the sympathy of many friends in this misfortune." Oxford Maine Democrat February 8, 1916: "Dominicus Wardwell, a native and former resident of oxford, died at his home at Perham. He was a brother of Cyrus T. Wardwell and a member of the G.A.R. He leaves a wife, a son and a daughter". References
