Oxford Maine Democrat April 15, 1891: "D. J. Wardwell and wife, of Perham, visited Caribou, Maine, and on returning home found their home in ashes. They left two young children at home and sometime during the afternoon the youngest child was called into the house, discovered fire falling fron the roof. He called his older brother, who was in the stable, but it was too late to save anything but a little clothing fron one of the beds. Mr. Wardwell lost 75 bushels of marketable potatoes, together with all of his summer supplies and the entire contents of his home. The fire is supposed to have caught by a spark from the stove pipe. No insurance. Mr. Wardwell has the sympathy of many friends in this misfortune."

Oxford Maine Democrat February 8, 1916: "Dominicus Wardwell, a native and former resident of oxford, died at his home at Perham. He was a brother of Cyrus T. Wardwell and a member of the G.A.R. He leaves a wife, a son and a daughter".
