Dewey LaVon Barton was born January 18, 1896 in Farmington, Davis, Utah, son of Joseph Thomas Barton and Mary Ann Norris.

When Dewey was sixteen his youngest sister Mary was born and he was very excited about having this new baby sister, there had not been a baby in the family for twelve years. He had a pony and he would get on the pony and ride up town, then begin to think that maybe it was a dream, and ride back home to check. Dewey said he wanted a doll and so on his sixteenth birthday Mother dressed a doll in boy's clothes and gave it to Dewey as a birthday present. Dewey named this doll "Jimmy". When Mary was born he told his mother that she could have Jimmy for the baby girl. So Dewey continues to tell Mary that she is his because he traded Jimmy for her.

Dewey stayed around home and helped his dad in his work and worked for the ranchers. He drove the mail route from Ruby Valley to Deeth for several years.

Dewey loved to dance and so he could be found at the dances each week throughout the valley. When he would say he was going to the dance, Mary would begin to g et dressed up, she was only six or seven. He would say, "Where are you going?" and Mary would answer, "To the dance." Dewey would tease her and tell her she couldn't go but she knew she could. He would take Mary over to the dance, dance a couple of times with her and then bring her home and she would be satisfied, she had been to the dance.

May 16, 1923 Dewey married Margaret Rankin who was a school teacher in Ruby Valley. She was from California, so that summer they left for California and got them a home in Berkeley. Here Dewey went into the plumbing trade. He had done some plumbing before the family left Price.

To this couple were born two boys: Robert Dewey February 8, 1927 and David Joseph June 16, 1929. David was drowned in the Pacific Ocean when he was sixteen. Robert has become a noted lawyer in the Bay Area. This marriage ended in divorce.

March 6, 1937 Dewey married Nellie S. Watts. They built them a home in Alameda and moved there. Then when Dewey retired they bought a home in Vacaville, a retirement community and moved there. Nellie died July 25, 1975.

Dewey began to socialize with the neighbor whose home was behind Dewey's. They talked and visited over the back fences so to speak, and July 6, 1976 Dewey married Stella Mabel LaGrone, They moved into her home and Dewey's home was sold.

Stella does a lot of handiwork of various types. They are very happy.
