  15. Dessie was very interested in her family genealogy. She published a book,"The Ritter Family of Steuben Co., Indiana". She was totally alert allthe way up to her death. She loved to watch baseball and was active inpolitics. Keeping her mind active was given credit to keeping her sharpinto her elderly years. She had manyoriginal OLD Ritter familyphotographs. When she passed away, these photos were passed to herdaughter, and were to be divided among the three daughters to Dessie. The daughter with the photos became ill, and was sent to a nursing home.Sometime in the process of breaking up her property for sale to thenursing home, the photos were missplaced and in fact forever lost. Allthat is left of them are xerox copies that she had placed in herpublished book. There were less than 10 books created, one was placed atthe Angola, Steuben Co. library. However that copy was not found by thelibrarian anywhere in August 2006, and considered stolen. I was able tovisit with Dessie's daughter, Mildred, and scan a copy of each page ofMildred's copy of the book
