For many years, James and Delilah lived on Stillwater in Wolfe County, on land Delilah inherited from her father, William Landsaw. Selling the land to George W. Phillips, her half-brother, they moved to Menifee County and kept a Tavern, and maintained an Inn at their farm on Dry Ridge. She was a Mid-Wife in Menifee County, a position held within months of her death. It is said, she cobbled shoes for her thirteen children.
