Obituary-Smith David Madison Smith, son of John Z. and Elizabeth Smith, entered this life December 2, 1862, in Darke county, Ohio' departed this life at 11:45 p.m. March 25, 1937 in Greenville, Ohio; preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers, one sister. He was united in marriage December 31, 1893 to Barbara M. Flory. To this union were born five sons and four daughters. One son and three daughters preceded him in death. He is survived by his widow, Barbara; four sons, W. John, Winchester, Indiana; Home, Dayton Ohio' Harry, Greenville, Ohio; Robert, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Schlechty, Portland, Indiana. Two brothers, Israel and Thaddeus of Union City, Indiana, two sisters, Mrs. Tabitha Harris of Union city Indiana; Mrs. Eunice Hummel of near Greenville Ohio and a host of relatives and friends. In his early life he untied with the Raper Chapel methodist church. At the early age of 34, he had the misfortune of losing his left arm. Although this was a great handicap, it did not discourage him. He worked faithfully and hard the remainder of his life. During the past ten years, he had been employed as a steam engineer a the Union Food Products Company. He had been in failing health for some time but would not give up until the last. He had been bedfast only five days when he passed peacefully to the great beyond. He was a kind, loving husband and father and will be missed greatly by his family and many friends. Obituary Front Street Man is Heart Victim Rites for David Smith Will be conducted Monday David M. Smith, 74 years old, employed as an engineer at the Union Food Products company, Greenville, died suddenly at 11:43 p.m. Thursday at his late home 624 Front Street, following a five day illness from a heart ailment. There are over 20 immediate survivors, including a widow, Barbara; four sons, Robert and Harry, Greenville; John, of Winchester, Indiana; and Homer of Dayton; one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Schlechity, Portland, Indiana, eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Tabatha Harris, Union City, and Mrs. Eunice Hummel, Greenville, R. R. Mrs. Smith was a native of Clermont County (not true). Funeral services will be conducted from the Greenville Mennonite church at two ;.m. Monday with the Rev. William Hygema, of Dayton, a former paster officiating. Burial will be made in the Stateline cemetery, north of Union City.
