David B. Seaver, a mechanic of Millbury, Massachusetts, enlisted in the Union Army as a Private in Company D of the 15th Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts on 12 July 1861 at the age of 24. He was wounded on 29 June 1862 at Savage's Station, Virginia,. He deserted on 6 August 1862 from Hospital at Falmouth VA [American Civil War Soldiers Database, on www.ancestry.com].

In the 1860 US census, David B. Seaver (23, sash and blind maker, born MA) resided in the Millbury, Worcester County, MA with Abby Penniman (age 56, born MA, $300 in personal property).
