    A transcription of his will:

    In the Name of God Amen, if David Lewis of Carrsaes in the Parish of Llanwanog and Diosus of Bangor being weak in Body of Sound and Perfect mind and Memory, Praies be therefore Geven to Almighty God do make and ordain this my Present last Will and Testament in manner and form [foll...] (that is to say) First and Principally I Commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God hoping through the Merits Death and [Pass...] of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins and to Inherite eternal Life; and my Body I Committ to the Earth to be Decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named; and as touching the disposition of all such Temporall Estate as it hath Pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth. First I will that all my Debts and Funeral Charges shall be Paid and Discharged
    Item I give Grant and Devise to Abel Lewis my son the appartment of the dwelling house in the Hamlet of Cairsoes in the Parish of Llanwonog in the County of Montgomery now in the Possession of Edward Evan as tenant. That is to say During the Natural Life of the said Abel Lewis and after the Death of the said Abel Lewis, I give Grant and devise the said appartment, to my Grandaughter Mary Lewis Item I give grant and devise and bequeth to My said Grandaughter Mary Lewis all the other apartment of the said Dwelling house and Garden situated in the Hamlet of Caisoes in the said County and In the Possession of John Edward and Edward Morgan Item I give grant and devise to my Grandson Thomas Brees all that Dwelling house and Garden known by the Name of Castle Mantiy situated and [...] in the said Hamlet of Cairsoes in the said County and if Ither of my Grand Children (that is to) Thomas Brees or Mary Lewis shall happen to Die before they aries to the Age of Twenty one years the survivor is to have and Enjoy the Two Tenements and if they both shall Hapen to Die with out Lawfull Issue then my will is to Give Grant and devise the said Tenements before mentioned to be equally divided between my Brother John Lewies Children Item I give and bequeath and devise all my Right and property for the Smith shop to Thomas Brees my Grandson (that is to say) the smith shop on the Green or waste Item I give and bequeath to my Grand son Thomas Brees the [Beau...] or Riteing Desk and Two Bedsteds one stands in the Battry and the other upstares also a Chust that stands in the Parlor and Two Chears a breat mit a Bansc and an Iron Pot: Item I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Mary Lewis the dresser and its furniture and the Clock and the great Cubboart and a wanscoat Bed [...] in the Parlor and Chust and a Great Chear and warming Pan and a little mitt and a Barrel and a Great pot. Item I give and bequeath to Abel Lewis a Suare table and a Chust that is above stares and in case he doth not come to fetch them I give them to Edward Nasferd Item I do hereby Constitute and appoint Maurice Jones of the Parish of Llanwonog and Thomas Lewis of the Parish of Montgomery Both Trustees or Gardians to see that my Gandchildren are Brees and Mary Lewis do arive at the age of twenty one To Receive the Rents from the houses and to Pay for thier Clothing and schooling and to see that the Building be kept in Repair etc and I do give and bequeath to Maurice Jones the sum of Five Pounds for his trouble also I give and bequeath the said Thomas Lewis the Like sum of Five Pounds for his trouble. Item I give and bequeath to William Lewis my Nephew all my wareing apparrel and the Clothes of my Bed, all the Rest and Residue of my Personall Estate goods and Chattels whatsoever I do give and bequeath unto my Nephew David Lewis whom I do Constitute and ap(point)sole executor of this my last will and Testament [...] do hereby Revoke disanul all former wills and Testaments by me made heretofore & do declare this to be my Last Will and Testament as Witness my hand the 9th day of February 1785 David Lewis
