Madam:

    I have to advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim S. 21856 it appears that David Knight was born August 29, 1756 in Scituate, Rhode Island.

    While a resident of his native town he enlisted in 1775 and served at various times in short alternating tours of one month each, about two years in all during the revolution, under Captain Edward Knight and Colonels John Waterman, Christopher Greene and Manton in the Rhode Island Militia and was in General Sullivan's Rhode Island Expedition.

    He also served four months on a Privateer under Captain Isaac Jones, dates not stated.

    After the Revolution he lived in said Scituate, in Killingly, Connecticut, in Warwick,Exeter and Richmond, Rhode Island and was allowed pension on his application executed October 11, 1832 while a resident of South Kingston,Washington County,Rhode Island. He died June 23, 1840.

    It is not stated whether he was ever married.
