1900 Census Dist 83, JP6, Lamar Co., Texas enumerated 15 June 1900 Jackson, John head W M Mar 1852 48 Wd TX TN TN Jackson, D. Carol son W M Dec 1878 21 S TX TX TX Jackson, John son W M July 1882 17 S TX TX TX Jackson, Robt son W M Apr 1887 13 S TX TX TX This would indicate that perhaps the d/o/d for John's wife was not 1902 as is on her tombstone. Also I note that David Carroll's birth month is not the same as he put on his draft registration card. The draft card showed 17 May 1878. Also the children's mother's birth location should have been AR. Perhaps someone wasn't real sure of the information. But this record is the right census for this family as indicated by the d/c of the information on John & Robert's d/c parent information. I have not used the birth date info given here for D. Caroll Jackson, but instead have used the info on his Draft Card Registration. Later: Sandi Vaught has info from David Carroll's death certificate, info provided by his dau, Vera Jackson, that he was born May 17, 1878, the same info as is on his draft card. Sandi also says his tombstone says born 1879!

1920 Census, Dist 118, JP6, Lamar Co., Texas Carroll, David head M W 42 M TX TX AR Carroll, Aggie wife F W 38 M AR AR AR Carroll, Vera dau F W 17 S TX TX AR Carroll, Fannie dau F W 15 S TX TX AR Carroll, Chester son F W 13 S TX TX AR Carroll, Margaret dau F W 8/12 S TX TX AR (This family was living next hh to Robert W. Jackson. Comparing the 1910 and 1930 to this record helps us know that this was the family of David Carroll Jackson! And naming a dau Chester confused the enumerator too - wrote 'son' and marked 'female'. Only the obit of Chester confirmed that she was a daughter. And even the obit said she was a dau of David Carroll - no mention of Jackson. If it hadn't been for the 1930 census, I would have thought David had changed his name. Or perhaps there is a story here that I don't know about.)
