Information comes from Lillian's family tree. "'Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky, Soldiers of the War of 1812,' printed Frankfort, Ky., 1891, page 162, shows he was a private in Captain Samuel Kelly's Co., Kentucky Mounted Volunteer Militia, mustered Sept. 1, 1813. With power of attorney from the other heirs of his father, he sold property of Jacob Brookhart in Frankfort, Hampshire Co., Va. in Dec. 1819. He also took east with him power of attorney from his uncle Daniel Keller to recover a patent and money due him on its use in Pennsylvania. On March 23, 1820 in Washington Co., Md., he married Theresa Funk, daughter of John Funk of Washington Co., Md. and Jefferson Co., Ky. David Brookhart served eight terms in the Maryland legislature as representative of Washington Co. They moved to Jefferson Co., Ky. before 1850. In 1852, they moved to Cass Co., Missouri, where David Brookhart was presiding judge of the Cass Co. Court at the time of his death, March 3, 1859." |
