He was the son of an immigrant who came from Ireland. He was a merchant at Taneytown for a great many years. He was a public spirited citizen and stood high in the community. He was a Democrat and a devout Roman Catholic. Died at the age of 66 in Taneytown, buried at St. Joseph's Church beside wife Mary and his mother Catherine. Obituaries: Taneytown Herald and the Maryland Gazette. Property: "Boyle's Retreat" 195 acres - 1800.
