    David Bear, or David Bair, was born in Lancaster county, Pa., Jan. 2, 1792, and died Jan. 26, 1852. From Lancaster county he removed to Westmoreland county, Pa., and there raised a large family. He was twice married, His first marriage was to Elizabeth Bowers, daughter of Sebastian and Magdeline (Bear) Bowers, and to this union were born nine children—Isaac, Benjamin, Sebastian, David, Henry, Jacob, Mattie, Catherine and Leah. His second marriage was to Sarah Bender, and by this wife he had four children—John G., Daniel F., Mary A., and Aaron J. Of the 13 children all are now dead but Jacob A. Bair, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Aaron J. Bair, of Celina, Ohio.
