In 1704 Daniel Wightman was ordained and became assistant pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Newport, Newport, Rhode Island. He later became the pastor.

Death

Rev. Daniel Wightman passed away on August 31, 1750 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island at the age of 82. He was buried in the Common Burial Ground in Newport.

• A memorial: In Memory of the Reverend Mr. Daniel Wightman Pastor of the Baptized Church in Newport holding the Six Principles as it is written in Hebrews the Sixth for almost Fifty Years, who Departed this life August 31st Anno 1750, in the Eighty Second year of his Age.

• Fourth son named in father's will. The will suggests Daniel had sons Daniel, Vallentine and Abraham.
