Daniel and Elizabeth moved to Knox Township, Columbiana County, Ohio in 1825 and lived there 22 years. On September 2, 1847 they came with family to Wood County, Ohio. Daniel purchased 80 acres in section 36 in Portage Township from Elizabeth's father. Elizabeth's parents also moved to Wood County and settled in Perry Township east of the Mennonite church and cemetery on Jerry City RD. The present owners identify it as the Landis farm.

Daniel was a Whig.
