He removed to Lunenburg, Mass., thence to Fitchburg, in 1768 to Ashburnham, Mass., and, in 1772, to Deerfield, Mass. He married (1) 3 Apr.1749, in Bradford, Mass., Abigail Carleton (?), who died 3 June, 1764, and he married (2) 27 Sept.1766, Eunice Fellows, daughter of Samuel and Eunice Fellows. She was born 26 May, 1736. Children: [#1485] i. Moses6; lived in Shelburne, Mass., and In N.H. ii. Abigail6, b.24 Sept. 1756. iii. A child,6 .15 Sept.1758. iv. Asa6, bap.12 Oct.1760. By the second wife-- [#1488] v.Daniel6, b.7 May, 1767; m.Ruth Ames. vi.Samuel6, b.19 Oct.1768. vii.Billy6, b.5 Dec.1770. Note.--A question, not yet satisfactorily answered, has arisen regarding three [two?] Daniel5 Merrills. Daniel5 Merrill [152] of Haverhill, Mass., is believed to have married Abigail Carleton and to have had three children. (see page 291.) Daniel5 Merrill [248], a native of Haverhill. is also said to have married Abigail Carleton. Which statement is in error I cannot say. (See also note at page 373). [Deane Merrill, Dec 2005] This question was resolved by an article in the Merrill Newsletter around 1998. The husband of Abigail Carleton is Daniel5 Merrill b.1729.

11/05 and 12/05 CORRESPONDENCE WITH BARBARA BROWN AND HOWARD AND JEAN MERRILL [Barbara Brown, 11/21/05 email to Deane Merrill] My name is Barbara and my husband David has Merrill ancestors that settled in Deerfield and Shelburne, Mass. One of his ancestors is Daniel Merrill who first married Abigail Carleton on April 03, 1749/50. The children of this marriage are: Nathaniel born about 1749 in Bradford, Mass.; Lydia born May 10, 1751 in Haver hill, Mass.; John born November 08, 1752 in Haver hill, Mass.; Moses born about 1754 probably in Fitchburg or Lunenburg, Mass.; Abigail born September 24, 1756 in Lunenburg, Mass.; child born September 15, 1758 in Lunenburg, Mass. and Asa born October 12, 1760 in Lunenburg, Mass. who married Elizabeth Judd in 1792 in Deer field, Mass. Abigail Carleton died June 03, 1764 in Fitchburg or Lunenburg, Mass. Daniel married second to Eunice Fellows, daughter of Samuel Fellows on September 27, 1766. He is listed as residing in Ashburnham, Mass ion December 14, 1770, when he was warned out of town. Daniel and Eunice had 4 children- Daniel born May 07, 1767 in Ashburnham, Mass, married Ruth Ames and subsequently moved to Hancock, New Hampshire. Samuel born October 19, 1768 in Ashburnham, Mass. married Fanny Harvey in 1797. Billey was born December 05, 1770 in Ashburnham, Mass. Joseph was born March 27, 1773 in Deerfield, Mass and died September 29, 1844 and is buried in Shelburne Falls, Mass. He married Lucinda Whitney. Moses Merrill is my husband's ancester and was married to Melea Maynard. He lived in Hancock, New Hampshire until at least 1808, when Melea died. I hope this helps you on your Merrill search. Barbara Brown [Deane Merrill, 11/25/05 email to Barbara Brown] The Shelburne vital records show that Daniel Merrill's widow, Eunice (Fellows) Merrill 1736-1817, died on Feb 5, 1817 in Shelburne. I have no information about her burial, but almost certainly she was buried in Shelburne. I have no information about Daniel's date or place of death, or burial (except that he died before Eunice).
