The author of the Jackson/Kelsey Family Tree at ancestry.com says that Daniel was born in Drakesville. Dr. Anthony L. Troha of Morris County tells me Drakesville was the former name of Ledgewood. The ancestry.com chart can be found here: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/7494665/person/-1082926650 and there is a good picture of Daniel!

Obituary and following note contributed by Dr. Anthony L. Troha: Obituary for Daniel Lampson Jackson from "The Iron Era", Friday, July 1, 1898, (Volume XXVIII, Number 32, Page 4, Column 2) published in Dover, Morris County, New Jersey.

Daniel Lampson Jackson, of Tunkhannock, Pa., formerly of Ledgewood, N. J. [part of Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey], died at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Noah Sowers, of 161 Summer avenue, Newark, N. J., on Sunday evening, June 26, after an illness which lasted two years. Mr. Jackson was a son of the late Silas H. Jackson, of Ledgewood, and a nephew of B. P. Jackson. He went to New York for treatment about six weeks ago and when it was found his illness could not be cured he started for home, reached his sister's residence and there expired after a week's severe sickness. Funeral services were held at Mrs. Sower's home on Monday evening and from his late residence at Tunkhannock on Wednesday. Interment was made at Tunkhannock. Deceased is survived by his mother, his widow and four children."

Dr. Troha: "I was searching for some data on the Morris Canal the other day, when I found a reference to a "Mr. Jackson" being the lock tender for Lock 1 East which was located in Ledgewood [formerly Drakesville], Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey. I thought that this may explain the presence of Daniel Lampson Jackson, his father, Silas H. Jackson, and his uncle, B. P. Jackson, in Ledgewood as mentioned in his obituary which appeared in The Iron Era on July 1, 1898. Doing so, I uncovered a great deal of information, but we are still left with a large number of unanswered questions. The Images in America Series book, The Morris Canal, Across New Jersey by Water and Rail, by Robert R. Goller, published by Arcadia Publishing (1999), has two pictures of the Morris Canal's Lock 1 East on Page 63. The upper postcard image on that page is accompanied by a caption that ends in the sentence "The wife of lock tender Benjamin Potter Jackson sent this card in 1907." The card itself is signed "Mrs. B. P. Jackson".
