Daniel paid for passage on the ship Brooklyn but decided to travel by land. He was a mill operator working in flour mills as he went west, in St. Louis, Kanesville and Perryville IA,

Traveled in the Daniel H. Miller Co

Settled in West Jordan and operated a miil for Archibald Gardner. Near the end of his life he operated Brigham Youngs Midvale and Lower Mill (Liberty Park). He died of smallpox at the Lower Mill home. He was buried in Wights Fort in West Jordan
