Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Genealogical and Personal History This family dates from an early English ancestry. The first of this branch to come to the United States was Lambert Bowden, born in Cornwall, England, December 31, 1838. He came in 1856 , locating first in New York state , later in Fayette county, Pennsylvania. He was a miner for many years, later became interested in mercantile lines and established a grocery at Dawson , which he conducted until his death, May 4, 1903 . He was a Republican in politics, and served as tax collector. He married Mary Ann , born in October, 1850 , daughter of Charles and Margaret Dean , both born in Pennsylvania . He was a farmer of Fayette county , and a Republican in politics. He died in 1894 . Children of Mr. and Mrs. Dean ; 1. William , a soldier of the civil war, lost in battle. 2. Child, died in infancy. 3. Phoehe , married (first) a Mr. Channing , (second) William Brown . 4. Mary Ann , of previous mention, wife of Lambert Bowden . 5. Rachel I. , married (first) William Jolly , (second) David Pringle , of Monogalia county, West Virginia , whom she also survives. 6. Martha , married Pierson Fazenbaker , of Fayette county ; he is deceased. 7. Sarah Jane , married John Workman , of Wharton township, Fayette county, Pennsylvania .
