Cordelia J. Tullis, 84, of Pittsburg, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Medicalodge South Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 15, 1914, at Limon, Colo., to Ben and Ethel Mealio Smith. She attended area schools. She had been a Pittsburg resident for eight years. She had previously lived at Pearsall, Texas, and Omaha, Neb.

She married Ira Vernon. He preceded her in death in 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Richard Tullis, of Pearsall; two daughters, Donna Hicks, of Frontenac, and Melva Kaufman, of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Richard Smith, of Limon; a sister, Helen Smith, of Limon; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Tullis; a brother; three sisters; and a great-grandson.

The body has been taken for cremation. Graveside memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Maitland Cemetery, at Maitland, Mo., with the Rev. Maness officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg.
